Ok, so a new website is always a little planning, a little dreaming, and a lot of guessing. Will visitors like it, will they use the features? Will we be able to draw NEW clients? All of that remains to be seen, One thing for sure, Southern Valley Services is a home diagnostics company that will take your health, energy, and comfort issues with your building or home seriously.
With over 40 years of home building experience, and multiple energy certifications. We are prepared to serve our region and help make a difference. I wouldn't say I am a dyed in the wool "tree hugger". Rather one of those old school guys who actually takes energy efficiency seriously. I don't believe we need to go to some of the extremes many promote; but I do believe we can reduce our carbon footprint and reduce energy demand by following common sense practices.
Building energy efficient homes by following Energy Codes and smart home construction practices make new homes highly efficient. Just as important, every home owner can reduce energy usage by taking simple steps toward air sealing and insulating of their home. An energy audit of your home WILL pay for itself and the home improvements over time. In 2008, TVA launched the In Home Energy Efficiency Program (IHEE). This program in only 5 years displaced energy usage in existing homes that offset more than the cost of building a new nuclear power plant. And this was in a region of our nation that only represented roughly 2 percent overall. Imagine if this were replicated throughout the entire country. The best way to reduce power demand is through improving the existing buildings.
Simple, common sense, and basic. Seal a hole, caulk the windows, insulate the attics. The average home energy upgrade package is under $2,500.00 and will return your investment in less than 5 years. Then, that annual $500.00 saved goes to your bottom line; not the utility company.
